Wooden packing and quarantine requirements

Instructions reiterated- C.B.E. & C. by its Circular no. 39/2004-Cus., dated 3-6-2004 had instructed on requirement of phytosanitary certificate in respect of packaging material of imported goods. In terms of the above provisions, no article, packed with raw or solid wood packaging material shall be released by the proper officer of Customs unless the wood packaging material has been appropriately treated and marked as per International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) No. 15 or accompanied by a Phytosanitary Certificate with the treatment endorsed. Where the goods are contained in wooden packaging materials, the same shall be treated as per prescribed standards to reduce the risk of introduction of pests through such wooden packaging.

Export will improve from July 2009

The Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) said that the country had passed through the worst phase on the export front and that it sees as upturn from July 2009.

India Leads in IT export: World Bank
The World Bank said India leads all countries in exports of Information Communication Technology (ICT) services. In its latest report "World Development Indicators 2009", World Bank said India's exports from the ICT sector increased from about USD 5 billion in 2000 to over USD 30 billion in 2006.
